A Special Visit with the MBA Performing Arts Management & Entertainment Students at File7.
Our MBA Performing Arts & Entertainment Management students recently stepped behind the curtain of the music industry with a visit to File7, a dynamic contemporary music venue in Val d'Europe. More than just a concert hall, File7 serves as a hub for artistic expression, talent development, and cultural exchange. This visit provided students with an insider’s perspective on venue operations, artist management, and the intricate workings of a live music institution.
Behind the Scenes with Emma Peters
Before the night’s performances, students had the privilege of an intimate session with acclaimed singer-songwriter Emma Peters at the venue’s médiathèque. As she sifted through its extensive collection, she shared stories of the albums that have shaped her artistic path, offering a personal and revealing look into the inspirations behind her music. This exchange between artist and audience provided our students with a deeper understanding of the emotional and creative processes that fuel a musician’s career.
Guided Tour at File7
The evening began with an exclusive tour of the venue, led by professionals from File7’s communication, management, ticketing, and production teams. Students gained firsthand knowledge of the logistical and strategic aspects of running a live performance space, from organizing events to ensuring seamless audience experiences. A highlight of the visit was meeting Yoanna Denis, an IESA student currently working at File7, who shared her insights on bridging academic learning with professional practice.
Performance - Emerging Talent at File7
As the lights dimmed, the audience was introduced to Donamaria, an emerging French artist whose work has been nurtured by File7 over the past year. With her signature blend of poetic lyricism and grunge-infused melodies, she captivated listeners with her performance that balanced raw emotion with intricate musicality. Her set was a testament to the venue’s commitment to fostering new voices and giving young artists a platform to shine.
Performance - Emma Peters
After the first act by Donamaria, Emma Peters took center stage.Over the years, Peters’ heartfelt songwriting and evocative vocals have earned her a devoted following. Her setlist, filled with deeply personal lyrics and refined melodies, created an intimate connection with the audience. The students witnessed firsthand how an artist translates raw emotion into a compelling stage presence, reinforcing the magic of live performance.
A Transformative Experience
This visit, organized by IESA professor Tomas Legon, underscored File7’s role as more than just a concert venue.
It is a space of mentorship, creativity, and collaboration. For the students, the experience was an invaluable lesson in the intersection of artistic passion and professional execution. They left inspired, not only by the music but by the dedication and expertise required to sustain a thriving cultural institution. With such an enriching exchange, this visit reaffirmed the significance of live music venues in shaping the artistic landscape. As the next generation of arts professionals, these students walked away with a newfound appreciation for the work that goes into creating moments of musical magic. We look forward to seeing how their journeys unfold and to more collaborations between IESA and File7 in the future!
