My Journey at IESA: From Student to Cultural Professional and Advocate for Accessibility in the Arts"

My name is Indraneel Banerjee, I work as a freelance cultural professional based in Paris. I studied the MBA in Arts and Cultural Management course at IESA arts&culture between 2020 and 2021 with the January intake.

The programme was a blend of the two worlds of art and business, brought together by IESA and the Paris School of Business. A unique element of the course was that all the subjects were taught by professionals who work in the field, thereby allowing us students to benefit from direct learnings and experiences of our professors. A memorable part of the program were the business trips that were always intensively jam-packed with learning and discovery at key destinations. Even though my time at IESA was interrupted early on by the covid pandemic, the institution sought to find solutions to the new situations. Deep credit goes to the director at the time, Cynthia Cervantes and her team who worked with us to adapt to the new realities.

<p;">For my title project I developed an event to investigate why and how the arts and cultural world can be more accessible and inclusive for artists and audiences with disabilities.

<span ">After my studies, this led to the founding of Cultur·Able, a platform to take this conversation forward and whose work continues to this day. I am fortunate to now be a part of <strong">the faculty at IESA, teaching future arts managers to innately understand and think about the accessibility needs of their audiences and projects.

For me, the foremost benefit of being at IESA was the network of professionals and individuals that were connected to the institution, either as fellow students or as faculty.

My time within the arts and cultural world, as well as in Paris, continues to grow as a result of my time at IESA and I insist that each potential student consider looking up and connecting with the faculty and build their networks as I have done.
